FS.ART as a guest of KUNST im Pavillon / Weingarten

hermn de vries / from nature

September 26th - November 22nd 2026, KUNST im Pavillon, Scherzachstraße 1, 88250 Weingarten
Wednesday - Sunday 2pm - 5 pm

The 95-year-old conceptual artist herman de vries is one of the defining European figures in an artistic approach that regards nature not as a subject, but as a counterpart, a material, and a space for experience. His roots lie in the international ZERO movement. In the Netherlands, de vries was one of the co-founders of group nul. The artist first became known for his random objectivations, works based on chance that dominated his artistic practice until 1975. Since then, he has expanded his œuvre, bringing together art, nature, science, and philosophy in ways that are as simple as they are radical. From the collages, reliefs, and drawings of the early 1960s to his nature-based works today, de vries continues to place his trust in the creative power of chance.

His works have been exhibited in numerous museums and institutions worldwide. In 2015, herman de vries represented the Netherlands at the Venice Biennale.

Under the title from nature, the Pavillon im Schlösschen now presents this important artist in Weingarten. All the works on display share the direct connection to nature that is characteristic of de vries’s artistic practice. A particularly distinctive feature of the exhibition is a work with strong regional significance, which the artist specifically selected for Upper Swabia and the Lake Constance region.

The exhibition is presented in cooperation with FS.ART, Bodensee.
